FROM 2021-2023 - 2250 FERAL CATS WERE SPAYED/NEUTERED/TNR'D IN THE TOWN OF BROOKHAVEN!

ABOUT
FREE SPAY & NEUTER PROGRAM

Feral cats have reached epidemic numbers in the Town of Brookhaven.

Town of Brookhaven has contracted with TNR Taskforce, Inc. to do spay and neuter of feral cats. This program was created to help Town of Brookhaven residents and trappers to have access to free spay and neuter for feral cats to help with the overpopulation crisis we are facing.

What you need to know is with this program you must agree to trap, neuter and return these cats. Return means returning the cat to the location it was trapped. This program is not intended for relocation of feral cats.

This program is ONLY intended for Town of Brookhaven residents or cats. All cats that are brought in for spay and neuter will be ear tipped - this is not negotiable. There are additional practices and procedures that will be noted at the time the cat is brought to the clinic and forms that will be signed by the trapper and/or resident.

To make a request, fill out the form.

TRAP

After adequate preparation & education on the TNR process, Colony cats can be humanely trapped and prepared for transport

NEUTER

The Feral/Stray cat is then transported to a vet to be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and ear tipped.  The ear is tipped during surgery to show that this cat has been TNR'd! Letting other rescues know to release the cat if trapped.

RETURN

After a quick recovery the cat is then re-released  to the same location that it was trapped.

The cat should continue to be supplied with

fresh water, food, and shelter
